A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising of Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice S Ravi on Wednesday disposed of a batch of tax appeals and held that wallposters are subject to taxation under General Sales Tax Act. The bench was dealing with 25 tax appeals.
A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising of Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice S Ravi on Wednesday disposed of a batch of tax appeals and held that wallposters are subject to taxation under General Sales Tax Act. The bench was dealing with 25 tax appeals.
Dealing with supply of cinema wallpapers which was subject to Sales Tax. The Deputy Commissioner had ruled in favour of the assesse and declared that the Manufacturer and Supply of Cinema wallposter did not amount to sales. The Commissioner set aside the order of the Deputy Sales Commission.
The present batch of appeals was filed against the said order. The bench rejected the plea of dealers. The bench said that the commissioner has the powers to revise the orders. The bench speaking through Justice Ramesh Ranganathan, however sent the matter back to the assessing officer to make assessment in accordance with law and complete the same in the period of four months.
