In order to facilitate proper regulation of traffic at Charminar and its surroundings with an aim to protect the historical heritage structure from environmental pollution, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner had imposed traffic restrictions near Charminar. Plying of auto rickshaws near Charminar and its surroundings would be banned between 8 am to 7 pm every day starting from August 15.

Hyderabad: In order to facilitate proper regulation of traffic at Charminar and its surroundings with an aim to protect the historical heritage structure from environmental pollution, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner had imposed traffic restrictions near Charminar. Plying of auto rickshaws near Charminar and its surroundings would be banned between 8 am to 7 pm every day starting from August 15.


Commissioner M Mahender Reddy in a press note on Friday informed that auto rickshaws coming from Madina junction would not be allowed towards Charminar and be diverted towards Kali Kaman and Mitti-Ka-Share and also the auto rickshaws coming from Kali Kaman would not be allowed towards Charminar and be diverted to either towards Madina or Mitti-Ka-Share.


The auto rickshaws coming from Himmatpura junction would be diverted towards Chowmahalla Palace Road. And the auto rickshaws coming from Chowmahalla Palace road and would not be allowed towards Punch Mohalla. The auto rickshaws coming from Moosabowli and Motigalli would not be allowed towards Laad bazaar and Charminar and diverted towards Kilwath road, while the auto rickshaws coming from Alija kotla towards Charminar via Sardar Mahal would not be allowed and would be diverted towards Hafiz-Danka-Mosque and Alija kotla, the commissioner said.


He said that alighting points for the auto rickshaws were fixed near the Charminar surroundings with sign boards at all the diversion and alighting points. The alighting points were listed as SYJ Complex, Near Basanthi Naka (Police out post), Gulzar house, Motigalli and also near Chowk Maidan Khan. All the auto drivers and commuters were requested to co-operate with the traffic police and take alternate routes for safe destination, the Commissioner added.
