Nod to investors to set up micro breweries and sell beer in the parlours
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has approved ‘Beer Parlours’ on the lines of those in Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The government on Friday issued orders, allowing the enthusiastic investors to establish ‘micro breweries’ and sell beer exclusively in the parlours.
The licensee would be given permission to brew the draught beer and sell up to 1,000 litres per day. The owner should establish a separate restaurant within the licensed premises for consumption. The license fee to establish a micro brewery is Rs 3 lakh and a deposit of another Rs 1 lakh.
At least 1,000 square meter plinth area is required to establish a micro brewery. The existing restaurants and star hotels are also permitted to set up the parlours. Principal Secretary (Excise and Commercial Taxes) Ajay Misra said that the licence given to set up the brewery will be valid for one year from October 30 to September 30 next year.
The draught beer produced in the breweries should not be bottled or sold outside the premises. The beer shall be served in glasses or pitchers. The shelf life of the beer manufactured in micro brewery would be 36 hours only, the official added.
