Hyderabad: With the Opposition demanding the Chair to hold two minutes silence in the House for paying homage to farmers’ who committed suicides and the MIM insisting on their ‘adjournment motion’, a situation of pandemonium was witnessed in the Legislative Council.
Members of Opposition demanded that the House pay homage to the farmers who committed suicide by observing two minute silence. They said about 1,000 farmers had died after the budget session that was held in March. But Chairman K Swamy Goud rejected the proposal and said that it could be done once the debate on farmer’s suicide was over.
However, some of the members walked into the Well and insisted that their demand be accepted. Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Deputy Floor Leader of Congress Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy asked the Chairman to reconsider his decision. Reacting to it, Minister Tummala Nageswar Rao asked the members not to attempt to derail the debate.
Finally, after the Chairman assured that two minutes silence would be observed after the completion of debate, the Opposition leaders were pacified. While on the other hand, members from the MIM tried to push ‘adjournment motion’ over the issue of Alair encounter. Even that was rejected by the Chairman. He asked them to come in a different form.
