Shashidhar Reddy alleged that the CEO behaved like an agent of the TRS and attacked other political parties while appearing on TV channels amounting to violation of civil service norms.
Hyderabad: Former Minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy demanded the Election Commission to take serious action against Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhanwar Lal. Shashidhar Reddy alleged that the CEO behaved like an agent of the TRS and attacked other political parties while appearing on TV channels amounting to violation of civil service norms.
Speaking to media persons in Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, the Congress leader held that the official had violated Section 13CC of the Representation for the People Act, 1950 and the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, Rule 5.
The Congress leader referred to his recent statements which appeared live on TV channels where Banwar Lal allegedly said the Election Commission of India was amenable to all sorts of influences. Shashidhar Reddy also took strong exception to statements made by Bhanwar Lal that the he had roped in BJP leaders to influence the Election Commission, which had sent a team to Hyderabad for enquiry.
