A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday ordered contempt notice to former Chief Secretary of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh for his alleged role in according unlawful promotions to certain IAS officers and for failing to adhere to the directions of the High Court in the case.
Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday ordered contempt notice to former Chief Secretary of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh for his alleged role in according unlawful promotions to certain IAS officers and for failing to adhere to the directions of the High Court in the case.
The bench comprising Justice Nooty Ram Mohan Rao and Justice Anis was dealing with a contempt petition filed by Mohammad Shafiquzzaman former Special Chief Secretary against P K Mohanty. The petitioner complained that in spite orders from the court to the Chief Secretary not to create ex-cadre posts in the rank of special chief secretary beyond the permissible level, he went on to create more such posts.
He said that Mohanty had promoted as many as 6 IAS officers to special posts against permissible levels. He pointed out that Mohanty was summoned by the court while he was Chief Secretary for violating an earlier order of the court. After the summons he had again promoted two IAS officers. The b
