Will withdraw deposits, SC Corp warns bankers

Karimnagar: SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi threatened to withdraw the Corporation’s deposits from the banks if they fail to give loans to Dalits under various schemes.
Speaking to the reporters after conducting a review meeting with the officials at the Collectorate Conference Hall here on Saturday, Ravi opined that besides the government, it was also the responsibility of the banks to work towards making the various government schemes a big success.
Interacting with the officials during the review meeting, he said that each Tahsildar should procure at least 100 acres of land to distribute to SCs under the State government’s three acres land to Dalit scheme. Stating that the government is ready to spend even Rs 7 lakh per acre and distribute it to Dalits under the scheme, he asked the officials to procure land in the adjacent villages if land is not available in the beneficiaries’ own village. He wanted the officials to speed up the process and distribute 137 acres of land by Sankranthi festival.
While 381 acres were in the control of Tahsildars, negotiations for 432 acres were held between the farmers and officials, he informed.
The Chairman felt happy for getting huge response from beneficiaries for the Corporation’s Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh loan scheme. In the first two days, the Corporation has received 17,400 applications against its target to sanction loans to 4,528 persons, he informed and warned the officials that there should not be any irregularities in the selection of the beneficiaries.
A total of Rs 156 crore was allocated for the three acre land to Dalit scheme and of that SC Corporation has allotted Rs 130 crore and the bankers would give Rs 21 crore towards loan. The remaining Rs 4 crore would be allocated from EMF, he said.
