Hyderabad: Nizamabad MP and GHMC elections in-charge of TRS Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Saturday asked the party leaders and workers to conduct door-to-door election campaign in Greater Hyderabad.
Speaking to media persons at the Telangana Bhavan here today, slammed the BJP leaders for telling cock-and-bull stories to the electorate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would do his best for the development of Telangana State. But the mature citizens of Hyderabad and Secunderabad would not believe the assurances of the Congress, BJP and TDP leaders, she said.
Pointing out that a large number of Seemandhra people settled in Hyderabad were being benefited with the welfare schemes of the TRS government, she lashed out at the Opposition parties’ baseless and unwarranted criticism in the matter of development.
Kavitha also exhorted her party soldiers to vividly explain to the people about the development and welfare programmes launched by the TRS government. She also noted that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had achieved distinction in bringing the Godavari river waters to the twin cities to quench the thirst of its citizens.
Indirectly ridiculing Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan’s proposed election campaign in the city on behalf of the BJP, the TRS MP said some people with attractive make-up would surface at the time of elections, make spicy statements and vanish in thin air.
Pointing out the TDP and BJP leaders’ statements that they would press Pawan Kalyan into the GHMC election campaigning, Kavitha observed that film actors come with colourful make-up and do some acting before the people and pack up later. But wise voters would not take note of such people, she added.
Meanwhile, IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao exuded confidence that the TRS would bag 100 seats in the GHMC elections and wrest Mayor’s post.Addressing a separate meet in the wake of release of election notification, Rama Rao said selection of winning horses in the GHMC elections would be completed in a couple of days.
Stating that they would take TRS government’s 18-month rule to the electorate, Rama Rao said the State government had reserved 50 percent of the seats to women to provide equal opportunities to them on par with men.
Making it clear that he had cordial relations with his cousin and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Rama Rao said party supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao may address a few election meetings according to his convenience and availability of time. He asserted that if the GHMC was handed over to his party by the people, they would show 50 years’ development in five years.
The minister accused the previous governments of creating confusion among people against statehood. The TRS leadership disproved propaganda that bifurcation would lead to law and order problem and settlers would not be safe and power woes would escalate, Rama Rao claimed.
“No settler or those of other States are not facing any sort of discrimination as the ruling party offers complete security to them. People staying in the city could live as usual in peaceful atmosphere,” he said.
