Hyderabad: The last minute announcement of candidates by TDP-BJP combine and the Congress party to foil any possible protests by the disgruntled aspirants seem to have failed. While all political party offices witnessed large scale protests, the TRS moved ahead with its campaign with the slogan Yeh Shahar Hamara, Yeh Ward Hamara.
The disgruntled aspirants are not only accusing their respective party leaders of forsaking the real flag-bearers of the party. They are also threatening to migrate to the pink party with their cadre. “We have been with the party during its most difficult times but now the party leadership has let us down. It had promised to encourage youth in politics but this time it has ignored the youth,” said an aspirant at TDP headquarters.
Another group from Malakpet division said that if this was the attitude of the TDP then there was no point in remaining in the party. They alleged that the TDP had conceded the sitting seat to BJP which does not have cadre there. They also expressed their ire over the party for conceding about half a dozen seats to BJP which were the strongholds of TDP.
The dissidents in the Congress are now gearing up to complain to the AICC leadership. They alleged that the selection of candidates has not been fair. If this is the attitude of the Congress party there is no way the party can revive here said former MLAs and constituency incharges like Sudheer Reddy and Srisailam Goud. They allege that tickets had been given to those who had worked against the party interests and all this would help the ruling party, they said.
On the other hand, none of the parties including the MIM had given B forms to any of the official candidates whose names had been announced. These parties fear that the TRS may resort to poaching of the official candidates.
The MIM has not even announced the names of official candidates. They fear that those who could not get the tickets may migrate to the Congress. In the absence of official list several MIM aspirants including those who have been sounded by the party leadership have filed their nominations.
