Bonda tribal couple—Somari Sheesa and his wife Dhabulu Sheesa—of Mudulipada panchayat in Malkanagiri district in Odisha have been selected by the Central government to participate in the forthcoming Republic Day Parade in Delhi on January 26.

This is the first time people from this tribe got selected for the Republic Day Parade. Ramakrishna Gonda, Project Officer of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) told The Hans India that the couple had played a vital role in developing the village.
Being exemplary to their tribe, they sent their five children to study in school. Moreover, they are utilising the government schemes for the welfare of the community, the Project Officer said.He said this was the first time people from Bonda community had received invitation to participate in the Republic Day parade. The officials of the Bonda Development Corporation would take the tribal couple to Delhi from Bhubaneswar.
