Telangana State government has come to the rescue of four crisis-ridden municipal corporations including the poll bound Warangal and Khammam. Nizamabad and Ramagundum municipal corporations will also get succor from the government Irrespective of the financial status of the four local bodies. In a review meeting with Municipal Administration and Urban Development department attended by Minister KT Rama Rao and other top officials here, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that many infrastructure development schemes have come to a grinding halt in the corporations due paucity of funds.

He instructed the officials to prepare integrated development plan for each corporation and get the release of required funds this year. Referring to the drinking water crisis, Chandrashekar Rao asked the officials to inter link the pipelines laid under Mission Bhagiratha between municipalities and villages for the supply of drinking water to households at their doorsteps. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation authorities have been asked to provide drinking water to 190 villages in the limits of outer ring road.

Construction of one lakh double bedroom houses, two dedicated drinking water reservoirs, multi-level flyovers, skyways, drainages and HMDA zoning were discussed in detail. The Chief Minister wanted detailed action plan as many multinational agencies came forward to fund and execute the projects.

He warned of strict action against those who encourage corruption in the functioning of the urban local bodies.KT Rama Rao was also holds the IT portfolio has promoted the tech industry in Tier-II cities particularly Warangal. The Chief Minister wanted the Rural Development department to take up road laying, construction of grave yards, drainages and local body buildings under rural employment guarantee scheme.
