Telangana seeks Central funds for Medak NIMZ, Pharma City projects

Hyderabad: The State government on Wednesday requested the Centre to allocate funds for the proposed NIMZ (National Investment and Manufacturing Zone) in Medak and Hyderabad pharma city.

Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma held a meeting with DIPP (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion) Secretary Ramesh Abhishek and Joint Secretary Shailendra Singh and discussed the various policies initiated by the State government to facilitate ease of doing business here.

Sharma explained to the Central team the State government’s proposal to set up NIMZ, pharma city, textile park in Warangal, dry ports and industrial growth corridors.

The Chief Secretary said Central financial assistance was required for master planning, development of external infrastructure linkages and internal infrastructure with regard to the Medak NIMZ and pharma city.

The State government also sought the support of the Centre in establishing an industrial township in Medak which would increase the investment competitiveness and attract more investors from the Asia-Pacific region.

State Principal Secretary (Industries) Arvind Kumar informed the Central officials that the State government proposed to set up a pharma university and skill development centre and incubation centre in the pharma city.

DIPP Secretary Abhishek asked the State to prepare a detailed project report on textile hub, dry ports and Hyderabad-Warangal economic corridor and submit to the Centre. The Centre was keen to include Telangana in industrial growth corridors coming up in the country, he added.
