The JAC Chairman said the student movement had led to the Centre declare statehood for Telangana on December 9.
He said that the first JAC to be formed during the agitation was that of the students. The students were beaten by the police and illegal cases were foisted on them in Osmania University.
“The agitation gained momentum after students like Praveen and Srikanta Chary committed suicide. The lathi-charge by the police on the students made the people come out on the roads and join the agitation,” said Kodandaram.
