Hyderabad: Chief Secretary S P Singh, who reviewed the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiative on Tuesday, congratulated all the departments on their tireless, persistent efforts in securing for Telangana the No.1 rank in the country in this regard.

He directed the departments to keep up the spirit this year too. He wanted them to hold inter-departmental meetings and come up with operational systems for day-to-day use. He examined the activities of the departments and urged them to implement reforms at the ground level.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion communicated the new proposed ‘Business Reform Action Plan’ for the year 2016-17 and requested the State Government to furnish inputs/remarks/suggestions.

The DIPP stated that States would be ranked based on the level of compliance of these reforms and use of the systems. There are a set of 294 questions in the new business reform action plan, covering 13 Secretariat departments and 27 HODs.

There are four newly added departments viz., Agriculture Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Food and Civil Supplies Department as well as Roads and Buildings Department and eight newly added HODs viz., Commissioner Agriculture, AYUSH, Director, Medical and Health, Drug Control Administration, Controller of Legal Metrology, Engineer-in-Chief, Roads and Buildings Department, Mines and Geology Department and Chief Electrical Inspectorate.

The Chief Secretary directed the departments that were part of EODB-2016 to hand-hold the new departments with regard to implementation of the reforms. The new action plan for EODB has been formulated. Each department has appointed a nodal officer for implementing the reforms. The Chief Secretary has requested all Principal Secretaries/Secretaries/HoDs to ensure that all reforms were put to use by March 31.

Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) M.G.Gopal, Principal Secretaries Shanti Kumari (CMO), Rajeshwar Tiwari (Health & Family Welfare), Rajat Kumar (Labour), C V Anand (Civil Supplies), Jayesh Ranjan (Industries) and Labour Commissioner Nadeem Ahmed and other officers attended the meeting.
