Responding to The Hans India report on the disappearance of tarpaulin covers worth Rs.2 crore, officials of the Commissionerate of Rural Development (CRD), Hyderabad, who inquired into the episode, have asked the DRDA project directors to send them the list of 35,185 tarpaulin covers distributed to workers in four districts of Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Asifabad. 

Adilabad: Responding to The Hans India report on the disappearance of tarpaulin covers worth Rs.2 crore, officials of the Commissionerate of Rural Development (CRD), Hyderabad, who inquired into the episode, have asked the DRDA project directors to send them the list of 35,185 tarpaulin covers distributed to workers in four districts of Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Asifabad.

The CRD, which conducted an inquiry at local level, deputed four officials to tour areas where labourers were working to inspect the tarpaulin. The officials who undertook the tours were Krishnamurthy (in Adilabad), Muralidhar (Nirmal), Durgaprasad (Mancherial) and Sashikumar (Asifabad).

They made inquiries with labourers on the availability of tarpaulin covers. During their inspection they could find only a few covers were available at some places.

Referring to the report on the lack of medical kits for workers, the CRD suggested to officials in the districts to make the kits available. The four officials, who conducted inquiries, directed that ORS packets be provided to labourers in view of the rising hot weather conditions.
