Hyderabad: Health Minister C Lakshma Reddy on Saturday made a surprise visit to the Chest Hospital at Erragadda and warned the officials and patients’ attendants of stringent action if bribe was either offered or taken on the hospital premises.
The Minister pulled up the officials for lack of facilities and proper patient care and a sort of negligence by the staff towards the patients, who need regular services. He also inspected various wards in the hospital and interacted with the patients on healthcare services offered by the hospital.
He directed the officials to set up an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Computed Tomography (CT) scan centre immediately and ensure that the patients got timely health services with proper respect.
The Minister inquired about the death of a person due to the alleged lack of ventilator at the ICU in the hospital. Seeking to know as to why there was no ventilator and the staff was not fully involved in the health services, he asked the doctors to provide patient-friendly services. “Any sort of negligence will be dealt with seriously,” the Minister warned.
Directing the hospital superintendent to check and resolve the problems ward-wise, the Minister asked the officials to ensure the Amma Vadi KCR kits being offered for mother and childcare reached the beneficiaries. He said the problems in the hospital were brought to his notice and it was decided to set up an ICU and CT scan centre on the hospital premises with immediate effect.
He said that the government would strengthen the hospitals with all modern and latest equipment for diagnosis, required chemicals, beds, medicines and blankets.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was giving top priority to the welfare of mother and child through promotion of institutional delivery and offering Rs 12,000 to women and shifting them safely to their homes.
Amma Vadi KCR Kits comprising 15 items for children and six for mothers were being offered on delivery, he said. He exhorted the people to have confidence on the government hospitals to get better health services.
The hospitals and health sector which were neglected by the previous government would now be purified and the Health Department was coming up with improved healthcare and medical services with all facilities, he said.
