The Hyderabad police nabbed a surrogacy racket in the Sai Kiran Infertility Hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad police nabbed a surrogacy racket in the Sai Kiran Infertility Hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
Around 46 women are being illegally confined to the hospital during their pregnancy term and are being paid Rs 2.5 - 3.5 lakh.
Raids were conducted by the Task force police with the help of District Medical Officers (DMO) and 46 surrogate mothers were nabbed who were being concealed by the hospital authorities.
Owing to their poor economic background, the women who are being offered heaps of money in exchange of this racket are natives of Delhi, Nagaland, Darjeeling, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The hospital reportedly wasn't maintaining proper records and are running the hospital illegally without registering for surrogacy. Also, the management have been confining the surrogate pregnant women to the hospital forcing them to remain there for nine months.
The police informed that the investigation has begun and that strict action would be taken against the accused.
