Hyderabad: Alleging that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was indulging in vengeful activities towards universities, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) official spokesperson K Manavatha Roy said that the government was violating the rights of students in the name of nonboarders in Osmania University.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Roy alleged that the State government was trying to interfere in the activities of Osmania University and it was started with the appointment of Vice-Chancellors. There was no such instance in the past like the TRS government’s attitude towards universities, he pointed out.
The government failed to issue the DSC notification and to appoint University Executive Committee for the last several years. “The police should not enter universities, but they are freely roaming on the premises of universities,” he lamented.
He said SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi stayed in the university for 10 years. Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan stayed in the university against the UGC rules. MLA Gadari Kishore and MP Balka Suman and several other TRS leaders stayed in the university for several years against the rules.
He said the Chief Minister was sending the students out in the name of nonboarders thinking that they might obstruct him in the Science Congress to be held in the university in January 2018.
He also asked the Chief Minister to send non-Telangana Ministers out from the Cabinet. “Did Kadiyam Srihari, P Mahender Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav participate in separate Telangana movement?” he asked.
