Hyderabad: Municipal Minister and Urban Development K Taraka Rama Rao on Saturday warned that industries adding to the woes of pollution by leaving effluents into the nalas will be dealt seriously. He held a review meeting on pollution, companies and effluents being released into nalas and steps to prevent its recurrence.

Keeping the monsoon in view, the officials should check the menace by pressing a team to monitor the same he said. The minister asked the officials to initiate stern action against industries for dumping of waste material into nalas.

He also asked to take cooperation of Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) for containing the problem and to set up CC cameras at key points to monitor the effluents joining the nalas. He also instructed Pollution Control Board to prepare a report on the industries, effluents and vehicles causing pollution so that action could be taken against them.

KTR sought the action taken against the industries in Sangareddy, Patancheruvu, Choutuppal and other areas for illegal dumping of waste material. He also asked them to take steps for Hussain Sagar beautification by stopping effluents into the lake from various points. We have succeeded 90 per cent in our efforts in the project and sought a report on some lakes releasing froth into the Sagar, he said.
