Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took a broadside at all opposition parties, particularly the main opposition Congress for spreading canards against the government and obstructing developmental projects by going to court and obtaining stay orders.
Buoyed by the victory of TRS affiliated Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham in the just concluded Recognised Workers’ union elections in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), the Chief Minister on Friday said the opposition Congress, BJP, TDP and Left parties have no agenda except targeting his government.
The objective of the opposition parties is to defame his government on all platforms including social media. The results were clear evidence that the opposition parties lost their existence. He ridiculed the BJP claim that the saffron party will emerge as an alternative in Telangana in next elections.
The CM wondered why the Congress was against the constitution of Telangana Rythu Samanvaya Samithies, construction of irrigation projects, Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha and Sheep Distribution programme which were launched to achieve Bangaru Telangana.
He said Congress leader Damodara Rajanarasimha was behind the obstruction of irrigation projects. The lawyers fighting such cases are charging Rs six lakhs per hearing and no farmer can afford it. It is not farmers who are opposing; but these politicians, he added.
He warned all opposition party leaders that cases will be booked against them who made controversial statements against the government, ministers, his party MLAs and himself.
Stating that the SCCL workers’ union election results would repeat in 2019 general elections, the Chief Minister took strong exception to the comments made against him by opposition parties that he was a “Dora”. He said he was from a middle-class farmer family and does not own a ‘Gadi’ (fort).
It was TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy who was Dora in Telangana. He (Uttam) has a Gadi. KCR said Dora system was a cult and not a caste. He said his community constitutes a microscopic 1.1 per cent of the total population in the State.
Though his community was a minority in Telangana, he became leader only because of his leadership quality and hard work. TDP founder President NT Rama Rao also recognised his leadership quality. However, he had to wait for more than 11 years to become a minister due to caste politics. The CM refuted the opposition charges that he was encouraging caste politics. He said 90.65 per cent population belong to backward communities and the remaining 9.35 per cent are forward castes.
Replying to a question, he said it was misconception that persons would run political parties. `The reality is that equations and situations would only play important role in winning the elections for every party,’ he said NTR and himself succeeded in the politics because of the situation prevailed.
KCR also lambasted CLP leader K Jana Reddy for the latter’s “opportunistic politics.” He said Reddy mortgaged Telangana for posts during Congress rule in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.
It was because of Gandhi family – Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi- Telangana suffered a lot. Nehru merged Telangana with AP. Indira suppressed first phase of Telangana movement and Sonia accorded statehood to Telangana only after 1000 people sacrificed their lives for the cause, he said.
