The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to commence its three-month long stint of Swachh Bharat Mission, in order to stay ahead of other cosmopolitan cities in the country. GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy announced that the civic body would be intensifying its activities for attaining higher level of cleanliness and sanitation in city.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to commence its three-month long stint of Swachh Bharat Mission, in order to stay ahead of other cosmopolitan cities in the country. GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy announced that the civic body would be intensifying its activities for attaining higher level of cleanliness and sanitation in city.
He asked the officials concerned to take stock of the situation on a daily basis and ensure that every worker is involved in making city clean. He said that Swachh Representatives should be provided extra pay for the activities besides monitoring their involvement. It was decided that every household should made aware of the regulations passed under Swachh Bharat Mission by the municipal body. Commissioner said Swachh Doot was the initiative of GHMC and it was appreciated and emulated by other cities.
On the other hand, it was decided that to get the kind of response garnered by the Swachh Namaskar from across the country, the civic body will implement it across all the restaurants in city. Many restaurants have implemented it and used Swachh Namaskar instead of English salutations in order to create awareness among people. Cities in Maharashtra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut from Uttar Pradesh are few who implemented Swachh Namaskar.
It is to be noted that Government of India is targeting October 2019 to achieve the Swachh Bharat Mission goals. A review meeting was called by the GHMC Commissioner in this regard.
As part of the ensuing drive, the civic body decided to impose fine for open urination and littering. The authorities are also working on to install 74 public toilets, 24 She Toilets adding to the existing 382 public toilets across the city.
