Hyderabad: Registrar of Prof Jayashankar Agricultural University Sudhir Kumar has been punished with 15 days of imprisonment by the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday in a contempt case filed by one Venkanna.
Justice A Ramalingeswar Rao gave this punishment while allowing the contempt case. The court had earlier directed the university to provide 19 seats to Agriculture Extension Officers (AEO) of the State government in BSc Agriculture course of 2017-2018.
The university did not give the seats in the academic year 2017-2018. During the hearing of the contempt case, the government gave an undertaking that it would give the seats in 2018-2019 academic year. The judge felt that there was wilful violation of court orders and imposed 15 days imprisonment.
