They booked as many as 102 cases for selling goods in violation of packaged commodity rules on Thursday.
Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Legal Metrology Department conducted ‘surprise raids’ on four prominent malls in the twin cities at the behest of Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Controller of Legal Metrology Akun Sabharwal. They booked as many as 102 cases for selling goods in violation of packaged commodity rules on Thursday.
Four special teams comprising five personnel in each team, under the supervision of Assistant Controller level officer, carried out the raids at Inorbit Mall (Madhapur), Hyderabad Central (Punjagutta), Sujana Forum Mall (Kukatpally) and GVK Mall (Banjara Hills).
According to the regulations, the goods should have product name, address of the manufacturer, date of production, expiry date, product net weight, and maximum retail price (MRP), should be mentioned on the product. The authorities have booked cases against the vendors who violated the norms.
