Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner Dana Kishore declared the schedule for Swachh Survekshan-2019 at GHMC Head Office here on Friday. The GHMC Commissioner held a review meeting in connection with Swachh Survekshan 2019 along with all the zonal commissioners, deputy commissioners, deputy commissioners assistant medical officers of health, Chief Engineers, District Education Officers, Mandal Education Officers of Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad and Medchal Districts.

Kishore said, “lot of works have to be taken up well in advance as per the instructions received from the Swachh Survekshan authorities, although the dates are from January 4 to March 31, 2019. The city will also witness a change in procedure next year.” The ongoing process of the Swachh Survekshan will start on September 15 in which GHMC officials and educational departments will play a vital role in achieving a good rank in Swachh Survekshan 2019.

Addressing the officials, Kishore said, “Continuous monitoring is essential and every official must have a clear vision to perform the duties as per the check lists provided by the Swachh Survekshan 2019, providing of all basic minimum facilities in the schools, creating awareness about the segregation of wet and dry waste to the students, involving the students to take up segregation at the households and cleanliness of the toilets at the households whether the transportation of garbage is being done regularly at the households.

The Commissioner directed the Zonal Commissioner, East, to constitute a Committee with DEOs including additional commissioner to know how many private government schools were existing in the GHMC limits. As it would help to prepare an action plan for overall development of the basic minimum facilities at the schools and to ensure proper cleanliness at all the main roads, beautification of the city, painting of walls whatever the small gaps are to be fulfilled involving citizens feedback to get the rank in the top 10 said the commissioner.

Commissioner also directed GHMC officials to invite NGOs and Gated Communities to join hands with GHMC to have a better coordination and to have a clear transparency while performing the duties. Kishore said that last year 4,000 and above Municipal Corporation and Urban Local Bodies in the country participated, this year 5,000 and above were expected and the marks were also fixed for 5,000 i.e., for Certification 1250 marks, Citizens Feedback 1250 marks, Direct Observation 1250 marks, Service Level Progress 1250 marks altogether 5000 marks have been fixed for the Swachh Survekshan 2019.

Sruthi Ojha, Additional Commissioner gave a power point presentation on Swachh Survekshan 2019 and briefed the officials about the checklist. Every month the required information has to be furnished to the Swachh Survekshan authorities which is very different type of work when compared to last year and there was a need to have a proper coordination to take up the works on priority well in advance to reach the target assigned to each and every officials explained by the additional commissioner.
