Hyderabad: The two-day National Cradle Conference 2018, an international conference on obstetrics, gynecology, fertility and neonatology, hosted by Apollo Hospitals was inaugurated on Monday by Dr Prathap Reddy, chairman at Apollo Hospitals Group.

The Conference is being organized in partnership with National Neonatology Foundation, Pediatric Academy of Telangana State (PATS) and Obstetrics & Gynecological Society of Hyderabad (OGSH). Over 600 delegates from across the country, and over 80 renowned national faculties, including international experts from USA, UK, Canada and Australia, will attend the conference.

The biggest healthcare concern in India has been the high Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), though it has declined to 130 deaths per 100,000 women giving birth in 2014-16, from the dismal 335 in 2005-06, according to National Family Health Survey. Union health ministry is attributing the improvement mainly to the rise in institutional deliveries across the country. Institutional deliveries also improved from 26% to 81%. But, there is lot more to be done. The program will focus on advances in the field of fertility, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics and neonatology with eminent faculties from across India and other countries, showcasing the latest trends.

It is an effort to bring multi-disciplinary focus on these specialties in an endeavour to make all aware about the team effort and multi-disciplinary approach required to ensure optimal clinical outcomes for both mother and child. “The specialties of fertility, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics and neonatology are so much interlinked, yet the approach has been to look at them as standalone areas of expertise. There is a great need to integrate these for optimum outcomes and the conference is a step in that direction. It is bringing the eminent specialists in each of these fields on a single platform for a better understanding and synchronization” said Sangita Reddy, joint managing director at Apollo Hospitals Group.

“Apollo Cradle has built a reputation for clinical excellence, and has the capabilities to handle high-risk pregnancies and complex pre-term babies. Through the recently launched, first of its kind eNICU, Apollo Cradle specialists will now be able to monitor minute details, including medication levels, nutrition, feeding pattern, calorie and growth charts of babies in NICU, whilst in the hospital and also remotely. eNICU will also help Apollo Cradle doctors to support NICU’s in smaller towns” said Dr Prathap Reddy.
