Volleyball tourney inaugurated

Basheerbagh: Sports Authority chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy inaugurated Late L Venkatram Reddy Invitational Volleyball tournament here at LB Stadium on Friday. The tournament is being organised by AP Sports Hostellers Welfare Association. Speaking on the occasion, Venkateshwar Reddy said that the CM KCR had been giving priority for the promotion of sports in the state and this resulted in sports persons from Telangana state excelling in various national and international sports events.
At the recently held ‘Khelo India’ Games at Pune, Telangana won a total of 22 medals, of which six were gold, eight silver and nine bronze medals. Reddy said that the Telangana state was making efforts to secure permission to host Khelo India games. Among those who were present on the occasion include deputy director Shobha, Olympic association general secretary Prem Raj and others.
