Visakhapatnam: Endowments Minister C Ramachandraiah, who arrived in the city on Tuesday morning en-route to Annavaram, directly went to the temple of Lord Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swami, Simhachalam, where he was received with full temple honours.

After performing special pujas, the minister, accompanied by temple Executive Officer (EO) K Ramachandra Mohan and other temple staff, visited the temporary Goshala set up recently at Krishnapuram. He enquired about the health condition of all cows and calves. The EO told the minister about the steps taken after the incident in which some calves died of severe heat wave conditions. He said a veterinary doctor was appointed to monitor the health condition of the animals. Healthy feed, water and green grass was being provided to them, he told the minister. It was also decided to grow grass in an extent of 20 acres of temple land, he added.

Later, the minister told reporters that the temple management has taken all steps to protect the cows. The calves could be given to interested farmers, voluntary or spiritual organisations on request after fulfilling all the norms stipulated in the 'adoption proposal'. He questioned the media as to why it was highlighting the Goshala issue always leaving other important issues.

Later, Mr Ramachandraiah left for Annavaram temple by road to participate in the Lord's Kalyanam.
