Police nabs fake godman in Karimnagar
The Karimnagar Rural and Task Force police took a fake godman into custody on Thursday, who was deceiving innocent people for the past 18 years and seized about 56 idols, rings, a few tree roots and other materials from his possession.
Karimnagar: The Karimnagar Rural and Task Force police took a fake godman into custody on Thursday, who was deceiving innocent people for the past 18 years and seized about 56 idols, rings, a few tree roots and other materials from his possession.
According to Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy, the accused was identified as Pidathala Venkata Swamy (60), son of Chennaiah of Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, is settled in Pegadapally village of Gollapally mandal of Karimnagar district.
He has been cheating the people of Karimnagar, Jagtial and Mancherial districts, saying that he can find hidden treasure, can correct vasthu mistakes, can make unemployed youth to get jobs, marriage settlements, to get high yields in cultivation and the like with his prayers.
Based on the complaint from Jittaneni Srinivas of Islampur village of Gangadhar mandal in Karimnagar district, who had been deceived by the fake godman, the Karimnagar Rural and Task Force Officials arrested the fake godman P Venkata Swamy.
The police team, who cracked the case of fake godman, includes Circle Inspector of Karimnagar Rural Shashidar Reddy, Circle Inspector of Task Force department Gouse Baba, Sub-Inspectors E Kiran, B Santhosh and P Naga Raju.
