Warangal: The leaders and cadre of district Congress jumped into jubilant celebrations following the announcement by AICC on the party vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s election as the party president on Monday. Celebrations were held all over the erstwhile Warangal district. In Hanamkonda, the party district president N Rajender Reddy, TPCC secretaries EV Srinivas Rao and B Srinivas Rao, SC Cell chairman P Vijay, leader N Laxma Reddy and others burst crackers and distributed sweets.

They shouted slogans hailing the new chief of the party by beating drums in the streets. Speaking on the occasion, Rajender Reddy noted that election of Rahul Gandhi to party president post unanimously was a welcome development.

At Warangal chowrastha, the city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari, market committee ex-chairman M Vinod Kumar, BC cell district president K Srinivas, city minority wing chief Md Ayub Khan, leaders K Sadanandam, Jannu Ravi and others have organised a grand celebration.

They burst crackers and distributed sweets to the locals. Speaking to presspersons, Srihari hoped that Rahul Gandhi, who would formally be taking over as Congress chief from his mother Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Saturday, would lead the party to great heights.

Rahul Gandhi’s leadership would strengthen the party further and everyone in the party was waiting for him to take full charge of the party affairs, he said and called upon the party workers and leaders to work together for the victory of in 2019 elections in Telangana.

Srihari urged the youngsters in the district to join the party in large numbers to work with the young and dynamic leader Rahul Gandhi for the welfare of the nation. The poor and downtrodden sections in the country were suffering in PM Narendra Modi’s rule, he said.
