takeWarangal:Tension prevailed here on Tuesday when hundreds of Telangana activists staged a demonstration in front of the District Police Headquarters. The protestors squatted at the passage way of the police head quarters demanding the release of separate Telangana activists arrested by the police across the district in view of the 'Chalo Assembly' agitation in Hyderabad on June 14. Earlier, the workers of BJP, TRS, CPI, Advocates JAC and others have taken out a massive rally 'Orugallu Poruyatra' from Mulugu Road to Ambedkar Chowrastha as a preparation for the Chalo Assembly. En- route, they staged dharna at police head quarters. Speaking on the occasion, Warangal (West) MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhasker alleged that the police have arrested about 2000 Telangana activists under 58 police stations across the district. He said the Congress government led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was violating the democratic rights of the people in Telangana. The Congress legislators and ministers from the region should put pressure on the government to give permission to the agitation. If anything goes wrong during the `Chalo Assembly' agitation the government and Telangana Congress leaders have to take the responsibility, he cautioned. TRS students' wing leaders K Vasudeva Reddy and Jorike Ramesh stated that the government cannot stop the agitation by arresting the activists. "We have undergone a lot of police suppression and we will face it now and make the agitation a success" they said. Later they held a meeting at Ambedkar statue, where the TRS leader B Vinod Kumar came down heavily on the CM Kiran Kumar Reddy for his reported statement wherein he out rightly denied to move a resolution on Telangana in the Assembly. The police JAC chairman T Papi Reddy and steering committee member Prof. A Seetaram Naik and other leaders condemned the arrests and demanded government accord permission for the Chalo Assembly programme. Leaders like M Dharma Rao and N Venugopal Reddy of BJP, T Ravinder Rao, Gudimalla Ravi Kumar, Md Nayeemuddin of TRS, M Sahodar Reddy of Advocates JAC were present.
