Game Point clinches Jaya Rao Memorial Football title
Hyderabad: Game Point Nizampet emerged champions of the 3th Jaya Rao Memorial Football Tournament after defeating Pro Kicks Kowkoor 1-0 in a closely contested final. Ganesh scored the all-important goal after receiving a beautifully timed through pass from Balachandra.
In the third-place play-off, St Patrick’s defeated Tony FC 2-1. Ayjaaz scored both goals for St Patrick’s, while Akash pulled one back for Tony FC.
Individual honours were also presented to the standout performers. Saharsh of Game Point was adjudged Best Goalkeeper, while Pro Kicks’ K Arush won the Best Defender award. B V Nisit Sai was named Best Midfielder, and St Patrick’s Roshan was selected as Best Striker. Tony FC’s Ronith was adjudged Best Player of the Tournament.
Chief guest Capt. Sanjay Apage (Retd), Assistant General Manager (Security), State Bank of India, along with DYSO (Retd) Aleem Khan and former Indian team captain Victor Amal Raj, gave away the prizes to the winners, runners-up and third-placed team.
Organising Secretary E S Shyam announced plans to conduct weekend league matches, targeting 12-15 games, to provide players with greater exposure and support long-term development, especially as most currently they compete only in small-sided 5v5 or 6v6 games.
