Adivasis must be strengthened financially: Indrakaran Reddy
Adilabad: The State government is making special efforts to strengthen the Adivasis financially and educationally, stated Forest, Environment and Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy. He was the chief guest at the celebrations of World Adivasi Day, also known as International Day of World's Indigenous Peoples at YSR function hall in Nirmal on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reminded about the various welfare schemes which the State government had launched to strengthen Adivasis. It had established Ashram Schools to provide quality education and good food, besides supplying books, uniforms, desks, cots, bed sheets, carpets, blankets, cosmetics and many other items free of cost to the students of these Ashram Schools.
About Rs 4.77 crores has been spent for the 37 primary schools and 17 Ashram Schools in the Nirmal district for 2018-19 academic year, Reddy informed. Of this total amount, Rs 66 lakhs for post matric stipend and Rs 5.35 lakhs were allotted for pre-matric. To develop skills among the Adivasi students, English clubs were established. Under Recognition of Forest Rights (RoFR) Act, forest right documents were given to 5,495
Adivasi farmers; and under Rythu Bandhu scheme Rs 6.63 crores have been sanctioned.Komaram Bheem memorial pillar was installed and a museum was established with an expenditure of Rs 25 crores at Jodeghat, he informed.
The Minister said that its everyone's responsibility to protect the environment and plant saplings and protect and maintain them. He said that people had sacrificed their lives for separate Telangana Statehood.
After the formation of separate Telangana, the TRS the government has launched several welfare schemes for the welfare of the poor, like pensions, Kalyana Lakshmi, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Beema etc, he added. Reddy assured that he will work hard to solve the problems of Adivasis and will put efforts for the construction of Adivasi Bhavan.Earlier the Minister paid floral tributes to Ramji Gondi statue.
District Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju said the government is implementing many welfare schemes and the police department has taken up many programmes for the development of Adivasis like organising medical camps and conducting job melas at Venkatapur, Kadem, Khanapur in the district and provided jobs to 200 unemployed youth.
