Harish looted Siddipet in name of development: BJP leader
Siddipet: District unit BJP president Bairi Shankar Mudiraj alleged on Monday that former minister T Harish Rao misused funds under the guise of Siddipet’s development. At a press conference at the Siddipet Press Club, he questioned what Harish had achieved to justify spending Rs 20 crore on celebrations in Siddipet.
Shankar criticised the expenditure on the Dasabdi Utsavalu, calling it a waste. He said the same money would have benefited unemployed youth and farmers if it had been used for welfare.
He alleged that if the Kaleshwaram project had been built without commissions, it would not have collapsed; questioned the need to felicitate former collector Venkatram Reddy, accusing him of troubling farmers and grabbing lands.
Shankar objected to the Bar Association putting up flex banners during the celebrations, saying it was politically inappropriate. He alleged that`130 crore was spent on the development of Komati Cheruvu, out of which 30% was taken as commissions. He demanded a white paper on Harish Rao’s assets, asking how much property he had before 2004 and how much he owns now. He blamed Harish Rao for the decline of real estate in Siddipet. The decade celebrations were only a show because municipal elections are approaching; no real development was done. He questioned why Harish Rao, despite being in power for ten years, did not establish factories around Siddipet, which could have provided employment to many.
He criticised quality of the double-bedroom houses, saying they leak whenever it rains; there is no difference between the BRS government and the Congress government, as both repeat the same mistakes.
He claimed that Siddipet’s development is happening only with Central government funds, not because of the State government; people no longer trust either Congress or BRS.
Party leaders Tunga Kanakayya, Kothapalli Venugopal, Kasanigottu Santosh, Gundla Janardhan, Vamsikrishna Goud, Gone Markandeyulu, Chendi Satyanarayana, Sutari Karthik, Pranay, Sandeep were present.
