Collector Rajat Kumar Saini suggests the traders to discourage the use of plastic covers

Kothagudem: District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini suggested that everyone should know the ill-effects of plastics and shun their use. On Friday, he inaugurated a massive rally conducted by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in the coal town calling for total ban of plastics.

Informing how plastics are harmful for the environment and the flora and fauna, the Collector warned the traders and others to discourage the use of plastic covers and instead stress the use of cloth and paper bags. He warned of strict action besides heavy penalties against those violating the government rules and going ahead with use of plastics.

Stating that people should get back to their habit of using paper and cloth bags, the Collector suggested the children to educate their parents about the ill-effects of using plastic cover and the danger the pose to the environment.

During the rally, pamphlets designed by the Education department urging people to shun the use of plastics were released.

District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Project Director Jagath Kumar Reddy, District Education Officer Vasanthi, District Public Relations Officer Srinivas Rao and Sujatha attended the programme.
