Man held for impregnating 16-year-old in Hyderabad

A 23-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for impregnating a 16-year-old girl here at Sangareddy district.
The girl engaged to the accused three months ago after she was done with the SSC exams. The girl urged her parents to stop the marriage which fell on deaf ears. However, she then approached the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) officer who counselled the parents and warned not to hold the marriage.
According to the police, the accused would visit the girl's home and sexually assault her with her parents' permission. In June, she managed to escape from the house and went to her relatives who made her join in Balasadan.
Meanwhile, a lady officer who saw the girl in a weak condition sent her for a health check-up where the doctor said that the 16-year-old is pregnant. The officer sought permission from Sangareddy DSP Sridar Reddy and aborted the foetus which was sent to a DNA test.
The police on Sunday arrested the man and her parents.
