Minister Sridhar Babu flags off Tri-Cities Half Marathon in Warangal

State IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu praised the Tri-Cities Half Marathon for promoting health awareness and sportsmanship among young people.

Mr Sridhar Babu attended the event’s second edition, organised by the Nayini Vishal Trust and CREDAI Warangal, as chief guest and flagged off the 5K run. Warangal West MLA Nayini Rajender Reddy and Wardhannapet MLA KR Nagaraju were also present.

“Health is the greatest wealth,” Mr Sridhar Babu said. According to him, exercise, sports, and meditation can help them overcome stress and anxiety problems. He advised the youth to refrain from bad habits and incorporate sports into their lives. Around 4,000 to 5,000 people had registered for the marathon, he stated.

According to Mr. Sridhar Babu, the government of the State is concentrating on the development of Warangal and Hanamkonda, which includes Warangal airport, Kakatiya Mega textile park, industries and employment creation, and also the development of rural talent in the field of sport.

Warangal West MLA Rajender Reddy said this marathon has been organized to create health awareness, deter the youth from using drugs, and to promote sportsmanship.He said the event had received a stronger response than last year and thanked Mr Sridhar Babu, Mr Nagaraju, CREDAI representatives, sponsors, organisers, athletes and young participants.

Public representatives, government officials, sports association members, organisers, runners from different regions and large numbers of young people attended.
