Hyderabad: Junior doctors from Osmania General Hospital boycotted elective duties on Monday in protest against government's proposed age hike of teaching faculty in Government Medical Colleges and assault on doctors in West Bengal.

They assembled in hospital main entrance with placards and gave slogans. Telangana Junior Doctors Association chairman chairman Dr PS Vijayender Found said the age hike would do grave injustice to scores of PG doctors in the State.

He wanted government to focus on regular recruitments and timely promotions to teaching faculty to overcome faculty issues in new colleges instead of hiking retirement age of professors. Also, they urged governments in Centre and all states to ensure safety for doctors and take stringent action against those indulging in attacks on the medical fraternity.
