Hyderabad: Principal Secretary Municipal Administration and Urban Development Arvind Kumar asked the municipal officials to formulate a special strategy for sanitation and ensure that the towns are kept clean.

Addressing the municipal commissioners through a video conference, he asked the municipal commissioners to personally monitor morning sanitation and take It up as a challenge to keep their city clean. It should be the endeavour of every municipal commissioner to ensure that their ULB is among the top 50 clean towns in the country. All the main roads, public open places and parks should be spruced up which would have visible substantial improvement in the towns. He also directed the commissioners to ensure that every town should establish dry resource centre to segregate and collect dry waste. No heaps of garbage should be there and the legacy issues should be taken care, he said.

Municipal commissioners have been asked to identify lands for setting up of faecal sludge treatment plant. All the 21 towns in the state which have not achieved ODF status should strive to achieve ODF status. Similarly, nurseries have to be established in 52 towns by the end of next month, he added. He asked the municipal commissioners to set up water kiosks at all important places where people congregate in view of the summer season. The local NGOs and other voluntary organizations should be engaged, he added. He congratulated the municipal commissioners of Peerzadiguda, Bodupal, Sircilla and Siddipet for winning awards during the recently held Swach Survekshan.
