The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the order of Telangana High Court on the conduct of coronavirus tests on dead bodies.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the order of Telangana High Court on the conduct of coronavirus tests on dead bodies. The bench comprising of Justice Ashok Kumar, Justice Sanjay Kishan and Justice MR Shah has issued the stay and adjourned the matter for two weeks.
During the hearing, the government's counsel told the apex court that they are following the guidelines issued by ICMR and union health ministry. It also said that is is not possible to hold the tests on all. Considering the state government's appeal, the supreme court stayed the high court's order.
The state high court on June 8 directed the Telangana government to hold the tests on those who succumbed various health issues in the hospital. Even after the government told the court that the matter was challenged in the Supreme Court, the High Court asked the government to carry out the tests until the matter a stay is imposed.
