Telangana Congress leaders join INDIA bloc protest in Delhi, demand CEC’s resignation
New Delhi: Telangana Congress leaders, including ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs, participated in an INDIA bloc protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Monday, demanding the protection of voting rights and an impartial electoral process.
Khanapur MLA and Nirmal District Congress Committee president Vedma Bojju Patel joined Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkat Swamy and Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna at the demonstration.
Six MLAs from undivided Warangal district including Naini Rajender Reddy, Donthi Madhava Reddy, Kadiyam Srihari, Revuri Prakash Reddy, Gandra Satyanarayana Rao and KR Nagaraju also participated, along with MLC Baswaraju Saraiah. Other state ministers, MPs and senior Congress leaders joined the protest.
The leaders marched from Telangana Bhavan to Jantar Mantar, raising slogans against the Centre and the Election Commission of India. They alleged that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls could result in eligible voters losing their voting rights and called for greater transparency and accountability. The protesters demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, urging the Election Commission to function impartially and ensure that no eligible citizen was excluded from the electoral process.
Congress leaders said they would continue their agitation to safeguard democratic values and protect citizens’ constitutional voting rights.
