Tipsy drivers throw commuters into a tizzy
The increasing number of accidents by the temporary drivers hired by the RTC management in view of RTC employees stir has creating panic and fear among the commuters.
Hyderabad: The increasing number of accidents by the temporary drivers hired by the RTC management in view of RTC employees stir has creating panic and fear among the commuters.
The temporary drivers in an inebriated condition are indulging in accidents, the commuters and the public are thrashing them in black and blue.
The two accidents which were happened at Hayathnagar on Sunday night and two RTC buses collision going in the same direction at Kukatpally 'Y' junction on Monday morning are alarming the government and the RTC management to take utmost care in selecting the temporary drivers.
Major mishap averted in the two accidents, but both the accidents created panic among the commuters and posed many questions and raised a discussion among the public that 'How safe is the travelling in RTC buses now where the steering is in the hands of inebriated temporary drivers.
On Sunday night, a hired driver by name Vinod Nayak in an inebriated condition created panic among the commuters and the public at Hayathnagar road.
The driver lost the control and rammed the bus into car and two wheelers and finally stopped the bus after hitting the divider. The bus belongs to Hakeempet depot and heading towards LB Nagar from Hayathnagar.
The commuters on road escaped with minor injuries and a major mishap averted. When the public rushed to the driver, they were surprised by looking at his condition. Angered commuters thrashed him when they found him in drunken condition and traffic police personnel rescued him from them.
On the other hand, the incident occurred at Kukatpally 'Y' Junction on Monday morning not only created panic among the passengers but also rescued them by averting from a major mishap. The hired driver reportedly by name Rasool rammed his RTC bus into another RTC bus coming in the same direction from behind.
A major mishap averted and the passengers in the bus and public on the road thrashed him badly by alleging that he drove the vehicle in an intoxicated condition.
When 'The Hans India' questioned the Kukatpally police about the incident, they replied that a small collision occurred between two RTC buses and they received the complaint from Dial 100.
When their staff rushed to the spot the two buses left from the spot and no one was there to tell anything to them. But the commuters who faced the panic conditions are questioning the government and the RTC management to take utmost care while selecting the hired temporary drivers before handing over them the steering of the buses.
Meanwhile, the depot managers are saying that they are selecting the temporary drivers after conducting the breath analyser tests. If they found anybody in an inebriated condition, they are rejecting them. They further said awareness is also creating among the temporary bus drivers before selecting them.
Bus commuters and the public are urging the traffic police to conduct breath analyser tests to the hired bus drivers on road through surprise checks by them so that they can rescue the
commuters and avert the major mishaps from the drunken
drivers.
