Two vehicles carrying adulterated poultry feed seized

Miryalguda(Nalgonda): Two DCM vehicles allegedly transporting adulterated poultry feed were intercepted at Gudur in Miryalaguda mandal of Nalgonda district, raising concern among poultry farmers over the quality of feed being supplied to farms. According to poultry farm owners, stone powder is allegedly being mixed with poultry feed and transported in large quantities. They claimed that Miryalaguda, which has a large number of rice mills, has emerged as one of the major supply points for poultry feed. Supplies are also reportedly being transported from Halia in Telangana and Piduguralla in Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad and other areas.

Poultry farmers alleged that as much as 60 per cent stone powder was being mixed with certain poultry feed consignments. They expressed concern that feeding such adulterated material to birds could cause serious health problems, including kidney and liver complications, potentially leading to poultry deaths and financial losses to farmers.

The seizure of the two vehicles has triggered concern among poultry farm owners, who demanded a thorough investigation into the source, manufacture and supply chain of the suspected adulterated feed.

Members of the poultry farms union urged the authorities concerned to collect samples and conduct laboratory tests to establish the composition and quality of the seized material. They also demanded stringent action against those responsible if adulteration is confirmed.

The farmers appealed to officials to intensify inspections of poultry feed manufacturing units, storage facilities and transportation vehicles to prevent the supply of substandard or adulterated feed and protect poultry farmers from losses.
