Will agitate if Narlapur pump isn’t switched on in two days
Wanaparthy: Former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy on Monday lashed out at the government, criticising the that the administration had failed to provide water to farmers despite the Wanaparthy projects being ready. He criticised that the Narlapur reservoir and pump house—integral parts of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme—remain unused due to ‘negligence’ of leaders.
Reddy warned the government that if the Narlapur pump is not operationalised within two days, a protest would be launched on behalf of farmers.
He made the remarks after visiting the Narlapur reservoir alongside former MLA Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy on Monday. Reddy criticised the government for failing to supply water to farmers, despite the opportunity to fully utilise the Srisailam waters. He alleged that massive quantities of Krishna waters are being diverted to AP via the Pothireddypadu, Muchumarri, Malyala, and Veligonda routes. He expressed anger over the government’s delay in completing the Palamuru-Rangareddy project and supplying water to farmers.
Reddy criticised CM Revanth Reddy for not undertaking any noteworthy work for the district. Attention paid to supplying water to industries is lacking when it comes to meeting farmers’ irrigation needs. He made it clear that if the Narlapur pump is not started within two days, an agitation to protect farmers’ interests would be announced.
