Now, there are english, Korean, Chinese and even Taiwanese dramas that are drawing audience attention and doing well garnering record views. However, let me tell you that regional web series are not far behind. In fact one of the Tamil Web Series based on the life of Serial Killer Auto Shankar has won an award too.
As per latest reports, Auto Shankar has bagged MTV-IWM digital award. What's the web series all about and what makes it award worthy? To begin with the person on whom the web series revolves around was a notorious character himself. That apart he created a sensation in the 90s when he would kidnap and kill young women in Chennai.
R Ravindran of Trident Arts in collaboration with Manoj Paramahamsa has bankrolled the web series Auto Shankar. It is being streamed online on Zee 5 and stars Sarath, Arjun Chidambaram, Swayam Sidha to name a few. The makers recreated the 80s sets in Chennai to give it a retro effect. Looks like their efforts have paid off finally with Auto Shankar Web series winning the MTV-IWM digital award.
