‘Run for Jesus’ rally tomorrow
Vijayawada: A massive “Run for Jesus” rally will be organised here on Saturday at 5.30 am under the aegis of the Federation of Churches, as part of Good Friday and Easter observances.
Posters, t-shirts, and caps for the event were unveiled at St Paul’s Cathedral near Benz Circle on Thursday by Vijayawada Catholic Diocese Monsignor Fr Muvvala Prasad, Swarnadeepika editor Bellamkonda Sivaji Raju, and other organisers.
Addressing the media, Fr Muvvala Prasad said thousands of Christians are expected to participate in the rally, which is being conducted for world peace and to commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Further, he said the rally would commence from St Paul’s Cathedral near Nirmala Convent in Patamata and proceed via Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road and Red Circle, before culminating at St Paul’s Basilica Church near the State Guest House. Church leaders, bishops, and representatives of various Christian organisations from across the State are expected to take part in the programme, he added.
Among those present at the press meet were All India Christian Federation State Legal Chairman Rajasekhar Chatla, AP Pastors and Christian Leaders Association General Secretary Bandela Dayanandam, Greater Vijayawada Pastor Fellowship Executive Council member Salluri Jayakumar, David Brenham, Bethapudi Ravikanth, pastors Indupalli Karunanidhi and Neelam Praveen, former Deputy Mayor Siripurapu Philip Griton, Buthalapati Philomin, JV Arun Kumar, and Babu Rao, among others.
