SCR extends special summer trains to ease passenger rush

Hyderabad: In a move aimed at managing the surge in passenger traffic during the peak summer season, the South Central Railway has announced the extension of several special train services connecting key destinations across the country.
The decision comes as part of efforts to ensure smoother travel and accommodate increased demand during holidays and vacation periods. According to an official release issued on Wednesday, a total of ten special train services operating between major cities such as Yesvantpur, Katihar, Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Erode, Kanpur Central, Madurai, and Malda Town will continue to run for an extended period. These trains will operate with the same stoppages and timings as previously scheduled. Notable services include the Yesvantpur to Katihar weekly specials running from April 7 to July 14, and the Bhubaneswar to Yesvantpur trains operating between April and June.
Similarly, trains connecting Sambalpur with Erode and Kanpur Central with Madurai will run until the end of May.
Additional services between SMVT Bengaluru and Malda Town will continue operations through mid-July. Railway officials stated that the extension has been planned keeping in mind the heavy influx of passengers during summer, particularly students, families, and seasonal travellers.
