Police launch innovative initiative

The City Police Department has launched a unique initiative titled ‘A Day with the CP’ (Commissioner of Police) aimed at raising awareness about the policing system among government school students and grooming them into responsible citizens.

The 45-day programme commenced on April 1. Students from Grades 8 to 10 in Government High Schools across Hyderabad district will attend. Every day, 20 meritorious students (10 boys and 10 girls) from a selected school are given the opportunity to experience police operations firsthand.

Launching the programme, Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar stated that the police force is not merely a mechanism to control crime but a service-oriented system that ensures social security.

The primary objective of ‘A Day with the CP’ is to instill respect for the law and a sense of social responsibility in students from a young age. This programme is designed to educate them on social evils like cybercrime and drug abuse while building trust in the policing system.

He expressed hope that this exposure would ignite new ideas in the students and serve as a guide for their bright future.

The Commissioner received complaints from victims in the presence of the students and explained the step-by-step process of legal resolution.

Senior officials interacted directly with the students to explain the role of technology in crime prevention, measures for women's safety, and the responsibilities of the police in maintaining law and order.*
