Amaravati: TDP chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has demanded rescheduling of nominations for the local body polls in the State in view of the alleged widespread violence and prevention of nominations filed by the Opposition leaders.

Speaking to media after meeting the Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan, Naidu said he had sought the latter's intervention in the issue and action against the erring police officials who could not prevent attacks on his party leaders and workers.

The furious Naidu lambasted the YSRCP rule calling it fascist and disruptive and termed the present dispensation as the worst in the country and in the history of Andhra Pradesh. "Have you ever come across such hooliganism? Have you ever seen such lawlessness? Is this a democracy at all? Why can not the TDP file nominations? Why have they unleashed these wild attacks on our people?", he asked.

On the counter allegations of the YSRCP that it was the TDP that was creating law and order problems by sending convoys of his leaders to remote places, he sought to know whether they had no right to go to Macherla, Vizianagaram or Pulivendula.

"What do you mean by that? Do you mean to say we need a visa to move around in our own State? Do you mean we have no right to go anywhere? Why lie over the number of leaders and vehicles going to Macherla? There were three cars and three men of ours. That's all. Still they have the temerity to call it a convoy of 10 cars!"

Warning the ruling YSRCP of consequences if violence continued unabated against the TDP, Naidu said, "Do you think we can not file nominations in 570 places? A party of 40 years standing and with 27 years of ruling history, you think TDP is not in a position to file nominations even? When was your party born and when did you come to power? Filing of cases under SC and ST Atrocities Act against our people will not disturb or dishearten us.

We know how to fight back and we will and we shall."

Under the present circumstances, the elections should be rescheduled and the SEC should call for fresh nominations, he reiterated his demand.
