Andhra Pradesh State Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu recently visited the Polavaram project to oversee the ongoing works. He specifically inspected the dewatering works at the Lower Coffer Dam, which is an essential part of the project. Additionally, Ambati Rambabu also examined the progress of the construction of canals that are being built to divert sea phase water between the upper and lower coffer dams.

During his visit, Ambati Rambabu was accompanied by CE Sudhakar Babu and SE Narasimhamurthy, who are officials involved in the project. The purpose of the visit was to assess the current status of the dewatering works and the canal construction, ensuring that the project is progressing as planned.

The Polavaram project is a significant endeavor aimed at providing irrigation and drinking water to various regions, and the minister's inspection highlights the government's commitment to its successful completion.

Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned that the dewatering works are currently being carried out in the area between the lower and upper coffer dams. Following the completion of the dewatering process, Vibro Compact works will commence. The minister highlighted that the presence of a significant amount of seaface between the lower and upper coffer dams poses a challenge to the project. He also mentioned that the central Jal Shakti department is yet to make a decision on the construction of a new diaphragm wall parallel to the existing one.

The minister further stated that the government is sincerely working towards resolving the issues faced by the displaced families. He also mentioned that Chief Minister Jagan met with Prime Minister Modi to request funds from the central government for the project.
