AP govt declares holiday for schools in Srikakulam amid rains

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken decisive action in response to the intense storm conditions. Srikakulam District Collector Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar has declared a holiday for schools and Anganwadi centres due to heavy rainfall. Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) have been instructed to take decisions in accordance with their local conditions.

Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu stated that there are widespread rains across Srikakulam district and opined that he is in constant communication with the Collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP) to keep up to date with the latest developments. The Minister asked officials in the Irrigation, Revenue, and Electricity departments to remain vigilant.

The Minister asked the public to avoid taking shelter under trees or in dilapidated buildings and hoardings. He ordered the relocation of residents from low-lying areas to safe places. The authorities have been ordered to prepare to deal with any situation that may arise due to the rains and prevent any loss of life or property through premonitory preparedness and vigilance. He directed all departments to work together to prevent any difficulties for the public and announced the establishment of a control room at the Collectorate.
